NBA and Hennessy "Spirit of NBA" Campaign (2022

“The first floating basketball court in Africa wasn’t just an installation, it was a cultural moment.”

Overview

A culturally defining sports and lifestyle activation anchored by Africa’s first floating basketball court. To bring the global Spirit of the NBA platform to life in Nigeria, Connect Marketing engineered a bold, culturally immersive campaign that merged sport, luxury, and urban expression.

At the center of the campaign was a fully constructed floating basketball court on the Lagos Lagoon—a first-of-its-kind installation in Africa. This was not just a spectacle, but a deliberate cultural statement: positioning Lagos as a rising global epicenter of basketball culture.

The experience extended into a multi-layered brand world that included a castle-inspired hospitality environment, exclusive merchandise showcases, influencer-led storytelling, and a charity-driven exhibition game. The campaign was carefully designed to balance global brand integrity with hyper-local cultural authenticity.
